The morning after the day before and I am pleased to say that my legs, arms and shoulders are still working and I don’t feel too bad.
It was a memorable day for my challenge, the weather was fantastic for once and the golf for the most part was pretty good. I started my day at 05:00 hours and completed my challenge at 20:00 hours
All 4 rounds took between 3 hours and 3 hours 10 minutes for each 3 ball. The men that played have never been around the course so fast! All playing groups let me through straight away; it was like a parting of the waves. The visiting golf society were fantastic, they gave me £50 and ensured that everyone playing didn’t hold me up at all.
I am completely overwhelmed by everyone’s support and generosity for this challenge and I cannot thank you all enough. I would like to thank all the people that played with me and also caddied for me yesterday, they really kept me going throughout the day with a lot of laughs
I would particularly like to thank the following people
Phil (my long suffering partner who was a little treasure yesterday)
Andrew Schofield (who ably assisted Phil)
Trevor and Diane Mayne who donated 2 sleeves of Prov V1 golf balls for me to use for this challenge (and I only lost one !)
Dave Smith who was already at the golf club at 4.30a.m. when I arrived to take pictures of me before I set off and who was there on the 18th for my 72 hole
Barbara Whiting who appeared just before I started my first round of golf and was there to cheer me on my 72nd hole
Jenny Colley and Margery Ball who both appeared on my 71st hole and walked the last 2 holes
Marlene Spencer who was there to cheer me on my 72nd hole
Keith Hough, Mary Hough (who fancied a little wander), Bev Dodd and Janet Wakefield who took the early shift. Keith and Mary were also there to see me complete my 72nd hole
Jennifer Fallows, Tracy Capal (who had the cheek to par the 6th and 15th holes) and
Margery Ball who played/caddied on the second round.
John Collinson (who was miffed as I outdrove him on every hole except 1 hole) , Alan and Rita Bottomley who played the third round
Kim Barlow, Kath and Martin Broderick who played/caddied in the final round
I am pleased to report that I managed to raise £1,533 in online and offline donations which is really fantastic (http://www.justgiving.com/Karen-Clayton2012 )
