Bell Cup Team 2012
Round 1
The Bell Cup team played at home on 26 April 2012 against Birchwood Golf Club. Despite torrential rain and greens under water, Manchester managed to win 4 games to 3

A big thanks to Jenny Colley who stepped in at the last moment because Barbara Whiting wasn’t allowed to take a buggy onto the course (Barbara was quite relieved and enjoyed the comfort of the clubhouse)
Thanks also go to Sue Warrington and Elaine Clark who went back on the course to squidgy greens to ensure the matches were played to conclusion
Sue will definitely have to spend more time writing a speech for the AGM !

Hickory Match
Manchester Golf Club members played against the Golf Memorabilia Society on 15 April 2012, I am pleased to say that Manchester won ! The Golfing Memorabilia Society also brought some interesting golfing memorabilia for everyone to look at and donated a mid iron made for Tommy Renouf to our club !

Lady Captains Drive In

Unfortunately despite praying for good weather all winter, it was a cloudy and drizzly day but this didnt spoil the day. I was completely overwhelmed by all the support, good wishes, messages and gifts from everyone.
I was relieved to hit a straight drive down the middle, pity my drive didnt make the end of the path on the 2nd !

Daily Mail Foursomes
Round 1
Marlene and I managed to win our first Daily Mail 4Somes match against Blackley GC (6 March 2012), the final score was 4&3
I have to say we were both pretty rubbish for the first few holes but did sort ourselves out and did play some nice golf (as good as you can for this time of year) and Marlene’s putting on the first few holes did keep us in the game
I will keep you posted on our progress in this competition
Round 2
Marlene and I won our Daily Mail 4Somes match on 5 April 2012 at home against Lobden GC 2&1.
This was a very tough match as we were giving 11 shots; the Lobden ladies also got a birdie (nett 2) on 1st !!!
We remained patient and although down until the 13th, we won 15th, 16th and 17th for a narrow win
